Project case study

DB2 to Netezza Enterprise Data Migration

Modernizing enterprise ETL workflows for an MPP warehouse while protecting existing business logic and data accuracy.

Business problem

Move established DB2 data workflows to Netezza without losing business logic or compromising validation quality.

Objectives

Re-engineer migration jobs for the target MPP platform, coordinate dependencies, and validate database objects and migrated data.

Source systems

DB2

Target platforms

Netezza

Results & lessons

Validated data accuracy to 100%. Tuned SQL and partitioning for batch performance and reduced redesign rework during cutover. Review all details against employer disclosure policies before publishing.

This generalized case study summarizes work described in my professional experience. Platform, workflow, and outcome details are limited to the information I have chosen to share; no client names, schemas, code, or confidential architecture are included.

Approach

Designed IBM DataStage workflows, re-engineered jobs for Netezza MPP, coordinated run dependencies through Control-M, and validated database objects and migrated data. SQL and partitioning were tuned where needed for batch performance.

Validation and operations

Migration validation achieved 100% data accuracy. DEV, UAT, and PROD deployment procedures and production monitoring, reruns, and incident response supported a controlled cutover.
